French Toast aka Pain Perdu: the recipe

By Sama Team | October 17, 2009

We are Saturday afternoon, it's cold outside and it's time for goûter: let's make French Toast! In France, French toasts are called Pain perdu, made of stale bread, soaked in milk then in eggs and go for the skillet. A good way not to waste bread and to pleased the kids.   I am always surprised when I see someone making French toast (like Penny in a recent episode of The Big Band Theory) because in France, the Pain perdu is not very well known since it is an old recipe. We don't make French toasts that often, but it seems they are still appreciated in the United States, preferably for breakfast instead of goûter.   If you want to know more about the recipe, you can check the French Toast Recipe at Simple Recipes. It's a great website for recipes. Have a nice week end!
