The Sama Gazette 2009 Round Up

Well, 2009 will soon be over. We have enjoyed sharing with you the many topics we talked about on the Sama Gazette since it was launched this Summer. You are great Sama-Readers and we are very proud you like this place, a piece of the World of Sama we all love. It’s time to go back on our previous posts before our first one of 2010. We hope you will still be there next year, be assured the Sama Team will be. And many thanks to Max Dana for letting us express ourselves on this website. We love working for with you!

Let’s start with the geeks, nerds or whatever you call yourself with Geektastic: Stories from the Nerd Herd. The book is about you! But you can also be a proud rider of the Honda U3-X: motorised unicycle from Japan, YikeBike: high wheel bicycle of the 21st century, eniCycle: electric unicycle for lazy circus clowns. For the gamers, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, best game ever! and Wolfenstein: weapons fully loaded! And for fans of toys: Holiday Dunnys Ruin Christmas at Kidrobot!, An Interview with Frank Kozik at Juxtapoz, Dunny Series 2009: released!

If you want to hear some good music: Norah Jones : The Fall – We love it!. Or you can listen to this great French singer: Mister Mystère: introducing Matthieu Chedid, or this one: Who is Sliimy? The late answer…. Don’t miss the ‘legend’ : Bob Dylan, you say? Where is your ID?. And learn more about this one you may already know: Kanye West at VMAs: Sama Team investigates

As for the movies, you can see Up In The Air: not Copenhagen-friendly!, Julie & Julia: ‘Bon appétit!’ for the Bons vivants, The (new) blood diamonds: it ain’t a movie… to be aware of what is happening around us. Not to mention Avatar: International teaser trailer has arrived!. For the fashion designers: Coco Before Chanel by designer Catherine Leterrier.

If you are into Art, then you might be interested by The Rotating Kitchen by Zeger Reyers, Georgios Maridakis and the Porcelain Vase Clock, or Mat Benote at Guggenheim: yes, he can!. Sad news: SF Street Art Mecca to be demolished. Fashion design: Gothic-style skull clutch by Alexander McQueen, Úna Burke: when Art meets Fashion and Carla Bruni’s little black dress is a success.

If you are rich or just spending all your spare money in jewelry, then make sure to check Onyx Skull Ring by Wendy Brandes and Milly Carnivora by Victoire de Castellane.

You can also learn, think, discuss. International Human Rights Day 2009 and Darfur, Congo, Burma: is ‘good will’ enough?. But also Aung San Suu Kyi back to home confinement and Aung San Suu Kyi: candles in Paris tonight. If you want to do something: World AIDS Day: Get (RED)!, RAISE Hope for Congo: Activism you can wear and Buy (RED) Save Lives – JoinRED Fight AIDS.

For the members of the Sama Epicurean Fraternal Society: Gastronomy Festivals: la crème de la crème, Whiskey Stones for Manhattans’ amateurs. The recipes: Happy Thanksgiving and How to Cook a Turkey and French Toast aka Pain Perdu: the recipe. For a great night, Dita Von Teese, ‘Queen of Burlesque’ in Paris! and also a surprising online magazine: Burlesque Magazine with Kalani Kokonuts. And for your bath: The Art of Living by Côté Bastide.

News from France:  Johnny Hallyday at Cedars-Sinai (hopefully he’s no more). In Europe: Berlin Wall: where were you 20 years ago?. And from the United States: Polanski: forgiven in France, guilty in the U.S?, Barack Obama: disappointment and hope and The Oprah Winfrey Show will end in 2011. The ones who will be remembered:  Patrick Swayze has passed away… and Senator Edward Kennedy died at 77.

Don’t miss our weekly rendezvous: Twitter Friday with Twitter Sunday: Favorites Tweets in 2009.

And last but not least: Max Dana’s 2009 Show: it’s happening now! We had a great time during this show and we will be back in 2010 for a bigger one. Be ready. Stay connected on the Sama Gazette!

That’s a fantastic Round-up! Everything is there, all the subjects we have been commenting are there and it’s a pleasure to read them again!

I really love this place and the Sama Team and Max Dana can be proud of what they made of this website. I read it everyday and I wish there were more updates but it’s already great the way it is.

Thanks and happy new year! :P

I would like to thank you too. The Gazette is a site I appreciate a lot because we can feel the pleasure the members of the Sama Team have to work together with Max. We can also feel your commitment by the topics you’re covering and you never patronize. It’s always a pleasure to read you, and I am eager to be in 2010 and to read you again ;)

That’s a very kind message from the Sama team :) I am also very proud to be a regular Sama reader of this website and Max Dana had a great idea when she decided to create the Sama gazette. I think you are making a family and I like that feeling like Erick said.

Bonne année 2010 à vous tous! :)

This is amazing to read your comments because it’s like we all feel the same way concerning this place…. Me too I feel the good vibes and the good spirit surrounding Max Dana and her staff. I know what it is to work with her as I had the chance to work with her many years ago but I still perfectly remember the atmosphere and the good times I had…..

Nothing is always perfect but it’s the best experience I have ever had and sometimes I am a bit jealous of the Sama Team, I have to say it

Happy new year and thank you to everyone (team and readers) for your sense of humour and your commitment! :)

All the comments already, that’s impressing! So I will not be original and I will wish you a happy new year 2010.

I was first a regular of Max Dana’s Blog and now I’m also one of the Sama Gazette even if I don’t comment a lot lately (that will change in 2010, I promise).

I’m curious to know what Max Dana will do in 2010 (art, show, website, commitment……) but I’m sure it will be amazing, as always ;)

Everyone has already said a lot about the Sama Gazette, the Sama Team and Max Dana. I don’t know what to say now

I would like to thank Max Dana for what she does and her true commitment. The Sama Gazette is the perfect illustration of that and the people at the Sama Team are very nice too.

Thank you and happy new year, wish it will bring peace in the world! :)

Since I know Max Dana, I had to write in english to first comment on her blog and then on the Sama Gazette. My wish for 2010 is she makes a french speaking place for french people like me who don’t speak english very well. I’m fed up to feel stupid each time I want to write my ideas in english :P

Seriously, Max Dana’s world is unique and like many people already said, I’m a proud Sama Reader.

Keep up the good work and happy new year 2010 to everybody!!!
