Twitter Sunday: Fav. Tweets @womenforwomenUK

By Sama Team | February 28, 2010

Our Twitter Sunday of today is about Women for Women International. The organization is helping women, and changes their fate: 'From Victim to Survivor... to Active Citizen'. International Women’s Day is on March 8 and this year we mark the 100 year anniversary of International Women’s Day. On this occasion, Women for Women International will celebrate the strengths and achievements of women by taking part in Women for Women International’s Join me on the Bridge Campaign. More information on this page.

If you don't know Women for Women International yet, here is an introduction to the 'About Us' Section (read more):

What We Do
From Victim to Survivor... to Active Citizen
Our Theory of Change: Women for Women International believes that when women are well, sustain an income, are decision-makers, and have strong social networks and safety-nets, they are in a much stronger position to advocate for their rights. This philosophy and our commitment to local leadership builds change and capacity at the grassroots level

Why Women?
Around the world, women face some of the greatest obstacles yet also represent tremendous opportunity for lasting social and economic development. Globally, women face the following challenges...

And here come the Tweets from Women for Women UK:

At the same time, studies show that women are the key agents of economic growth and poverty reduction.

You may already be aware that 70% of the world’s poor are women, and 75% of the civilians killed in the war are women and children.

Helping women is great, but men could also need help, couldn’t they?

Komkiper, men don’t need any help. They are the ones killing and raping women. I can’t even imagine a ‘Men for Men’ organization

Thank you for talking about this fabulous organization. Women for Women International was founded by Zainab Salbi and I have a lot of respect for this woman and everything she has done.

Join me on the Bridge Campaign is a great idea, but there is nothing organized in Canada/Québec… Too bad!

I know Women for Women but I never visited their website. Very interesting stories indeed. I wish I could help them all.

I’m sure Max Dana is a feminist and she supports women. Maybe she did something for the occasion, I don’t know.

That’s too bad they don’t extend the campaign to France. I am a man but I fully support the fight for women. If Max Dana could help bring these kind of events to France that would be fantastic! :)

I knew someone who worked for Women for Women. She lived for the organization until she died of breast cancer. She dedicated her life to help other women. R.I.P Linda………
