Twitter Sunday: Favorites Tweets @CARE

By Sama Team | March 7, 2010

Last Sunday, we shared with you our Favorites Tweets @womenforwomenUK and @WomenforWomen. Today we decided to share our Favorites Tweets from another organization: CARE. Tomorrow is International Women’s Day and we think it's important to support organizations helping women like CARE who is doing a amazing work empowering women and supporting events around the world.

As you may have noticed, we put online a new section on the Sama Gazette (right column): 'The Sama Gazette supports...'. We wanted to support CARE, partner of  Half the Sky,  a one-night-only event inspired by stories from the New York Times best seller "Half the Sky" by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn

About CARE (read more here):

CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. We place special focus on working alongside poor women because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty. Women are at the heart of CARE's community-based efforts to improve basic education, prevent the spread of HIV, increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunity and protect natural resources. CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives.

Care is not very well known in France. I will read their tweets. From what I read from their website, they are in many countries, that’s impressive!

Mark: no, you don’t!

Shame on people using Haiti to raise money for themselves. That’s really a shame and should be strongly punished.

I never give money on the phone. I know some people you do give information about their bank account, that’s really stupid.

Sama Reader Juliette

Thanks Avi but this day is not an happy day. It’s a day when everyone can see men and women are not treated the same way in this world.

To me it’s a sad day…

Sama Reader Pilar

¡Hola!

I agree with Juliette, today is not a happy day. It is not believable to think women can receive such bad treatment. In Congo they are raped and treated like meat it’s so, so horrible…

It’s a sad day today for all women because so many are suffering. I hope it will change. I hope.

I’m a man and I can tell you women can sometimes have hard times at work. They have to prove everything they say, and on in the other hand, men are always right. I’m a man and I can testify of that almost everyday. And I often feel ashamed to be a man
