Stand With Suu Kyi in New York City on June 18th!

Almost a year ago, we wrote about Aung San Suu Kyi back to home confinement. On October 6, 2009, Human Rights Watch, Info Birmanie, FIDH, Amnesty International, SOS pour Aung San Suu Kyi and La Ligue des Droits de L’homme called for a meeting at the Hotel de Ville of Paris: Aung San Suu Kyi: candles in Paris tonight. Many Sama Readers living in Paris joined the event and did light candles to support Suu Kyi.

Now Sama Readers from New York City can join Stand With Suu Kyi. Tomorrow, Amnesty International & Burma Point will be calling activists and supporters throughout New York City to join them outside the United Nations Headquarters at Ralph Bunche Park for a demonstration calling for the release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all the political prisoners of Myanmar (Burma).

The demonstration will take place a day before Aung San Suu Kyi‘s 65th birthday.

When: Friday, June 18th from 12 pm – 1 pm
