YikeBike: high wheel bicycle of the 21st century

Last month, we introduced you to the eniCycle: electric unicycle for lazy circus clowns; today we want to show you the YikeBike: high wheel bicycle of the 21st century. And we are very serious about it: the YikeBike has been released at EUROBIKE on September 2, 2009 and this is a radical electric bicycle that just weighs 9.8 kilograms and folds to 67×56×12 cm to fit in a backpack. And it definitely looks like a high wheel bicycle from the Victorian era ...

Buy (RED) Save Lives – JoinRED Fight AIDS

Many Sama Gazette staff members got (RED) Products: Max Dana has a Dell Mini netbook,  Uncle_Louis got the Chuck Taylor ALL STAR x Africa Converse, Caramel bought a Special Edition iPod nano and I modestly signed up to the (RED) Newsletter. The Sama Gazette has been (RED) contaminated, that’s why we wanted to post a news about (RED). If you still wonder ‘What is (RED)’, here is the official answer (read the (RED) Faqs): (RED) is a ...

Burlesque Magazine with Kalani Kokonuts

It’s Saturday and we couldn’t leave you until next week without sharing with you a crucial information: a member of the Sama Team had the chance to see Dita Von Teese‘s show at The Casino de Paris last week. We already talked about this rendezvous: Dita Von Teese ‘Queen of Burlesque’ in Paris!, and this Sama Team member really enjoyed the night, in every way… But if you’re still unaware about the Burlesque thing we are ...

Kanye West at VMAs: Sama Team investigates

At that time, the video showing Kanye West grabbing the mic as Taylor Swift accepts her award on stage at the MTV’s Video Music Awards this week-end, has been seen worldwide. He obviously drank too much, as we could see him taking swigs from a bottle on the VMAs carpet. Some did enjoy the show, some others say it was a disrespectful act, and some others think the whole thing was a publicity stunt. The Sama Team decided to investigate; read below the ...

Patrick Swayze has passed away…

Actor Patrick Swayze has passed away after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Very sad news. He was best known for his roles in hit films Dirty Dancing and Ghost, and I was shocked (but sadly not surprised…) when I read the news early this morning when I arrived at the office. He was a great actor and a great dancer too, his films are among my favorites.   In March 2008 he announced he was suffering from an especially deadly form of ...

Whiskey Stones for Manhattans’ amateurs

It’s Friday night, it’s late, let’s talk about serious stuff: Whiskey Stones. I don’t drink much (unlike some other members of the Sama Team, I will not give away any names, they will recognize themselves) but I have to admit the idea of the Whiskey Stones sounds great for any Manhattan on the rocks amateurs. Stones, in your Bourbon? Exactly!   Here is how it works (taken from ‘Why This Gets The Delight Seal of ...

Dunny Series 2009: released!

Vinyl toys. First time we actually saw one of them was 3 or 4 years ago, when Max Dana, on a cold winter morning, put on the conference table a toy from spanish designer Jaime Hayon. We looked at it, we wondered what it was, who designed it and ultimately if it had any kind of sexual use (you know, vinyl toys…). Max told us a lot about those designer toys before but it was the first time she shared with us a piece of her very private collection. ...

RAISE Hope for Congo: Activism you can wear

A month ago, we posted an article titled: The (new) blood diamonds: it ain’t a movie… and we received many emails about it. The situation in Congo is dangerous and we think it’s important to raise awareness about it. John Prendergast is co-founder of the project Enough at the Center for American Progress, and his article: The new blood diamonds was published on the Boston Globe. It was a month ago and we are still talking about the situation ...

Dita Von Teese, ‘Queen of Burlesque’ in Paris!

Dita Von Teese will be performing in Paris next week.  If you don’t already know the ‘Queen of Burlesque’ , here is what we can read on her officiel website: She is one of a kind. She is the biggest name in Burlesque since Gypsy Rose Lee. She tops international Best Dressed lists. She is a modern day Fashion Icon. She inspires designers from Marc Jacobs and John Galliano to Jean Paul Gaultier and Zac Posen. She is credited for bringing ...

San Francisco Street Art Mecca to be demolished

Yesterday, Max Dana came with an unexpected news, saying: “SF Street Art Mecca to be demolished in September“. The Sama Team was there, we were all working at our desk (well, sort of) and we didn’t exactly understand what this news was about… As you may already know if you follow Max Dana’s work, she started by making graffiti in the mid-80’s and this a movement she continues to support, althought she doesn’t ...
