The Rotating Kitchen by Zeger Reyers

The Rotating Kitchen by Zeger Reyers

We were very intrigued, to say the least, when we watched the video of Dutch artist Zeger Reyers‘ installation “Rotating Kitchen“. The introduction says: ‘The Rotating Kitchen by Zeger Reyers was put into motion during the opening of the exhibition Eating the Universe at the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, Germany, last Friday. It will keep rotating slowly until February 28th 2010’.

It’s part of the program “Eating the Universe. Food in Art” at Germany’s Kunsthalle Düsseldorf that features a whole series of exhibits, performances, and lectures centered around food art. You can find more information about the event following this link.

We work everyday with a very creative artist. Max Dana makes extravagant creatures and furnitures, and we don’t always get everything she’s working on, that’s a fact we can’t deny. But the Rotating Kitchen by Zeger Reyers is totally over our capacity to even imagine the simple meaning of it. And yes, we know Contemporary Art can sometimes be perceived as a nonsense but still…

Anyway, just have a look at the video. And like someone just suggested, the overall effect would have been better if it had been a rotating toilet; and that, I can easily imagine! 😉
