Grandmaster Flash, Seen, Jordans… The good old days!

Max Dana is a committed artist and when it comes to her sources of inspiration, they are multiples and very different. But everything started with graffiti in the Eighties. If you are a regular of Max’s Blog then you already know about that important point (she also mentions graffiti in her bio) but you will learn more in her last blog post. We know her very well and we did learn a lot about her, so we guess you may learn a thing or two too. Her ...

Leon Botha: when Art is beyond what you see

You may have never heard of Leon Botha before. We didn’t either until we read Max Dana‘s last blog post she published a few days ago on her blog. With simple words, Max gets to the heart of the matter and tell us who is South African artist Leon Botha, his work and why he is so inspirational to her. You are going to meet with a true artist. Cajun culture, language, food and music

Louisiana. Cajuns. Culture and language. Food and music. We were browsing the web when we visited James Leger’s website. He is a 67 year old native of Louisiana and gives free tutorials and advice for those interested in the Cajun language. He also discusses customs and history related to the Cajun heritage. A very interesting website to learn more about Cajun language. About James Leger (read more here): I taught Cajun French in Lamar ...

Art in Indonesia: Mayumi Haryoto’s dreamy works

After our first post: Art in Canada: Lampwork beads by Sherry Bellamy and then Art in USA: Terraform Sculpture by Robert Cannon, today we are going to Jakarta, Indonesia with Mayumi Haryoto. She worked in a game developer studio, for advertising agencies, in film production houses, and also for records label companies. And one day, she decided to quit her job and focus on her own career and be an illustrator. We were very impressed by her work and ...

SEEN ‘Please enjoy’ solo show in Paris

SEEN a.k.a the Godfather of Graffiti will be in Paris next week for the opening of his solo show ‘Please enjoy’. We are all very excited at the Sama Gazette by this exhibition because we know how a big fan Max Dana is of the artist; almost three years ago, she wrote about SEEN on her blog: From sgraffiti to graffiti, from Cauchie to Seen. Since then, we see graffiti artists very differently and can’t wait to see this exhibition at ...

Art in USA: Terraform Sculpture by Robert Cannon

We were like hypnotized by American artist Robert Cannon‘s work he calls Terraform Sculpture. What would an artist like Cannon, B.A. with distinction in Architecture, Yale University (New Haven, Connecticut), could do with concrete and moss? Amazing sculptures! We selected two of them from the Terraform Sculpture Imperial line to illustrate this post: left – Gauntlet (72 x 60 x 32) and right – Bucephalus (38 x 24 x 12). But you can see ...
